My name is Geoff Barstow. I’m a professor of Buddhist Studies and Animal Ethics. And I’m a carpenter on the side.
About The Curly Maple Carpentry Co.
I’ve enjoyed working with wood for years. And people sometimes seem to like the things I make. So I started The Curly Maple Carpentry Company as a way to get my projects into the hands of people who will enjoy and appreciate them. You can check out the gallery if you’re so inclined.
Woodworking is not my job. In normal life, I’m a professor of Buddhist Studies (read about that side of my life here). That job is pretty cerebral, and it always feels good to get into the woodshop and make something with my hands.
Some of the pieces on this site have already found their forever home. Others are still available. And I can make a new version of just about anything here. So if you see something you’d like to buy or have an idea for something you’d like to commission, feel free to reach out to me so we can work out details. I’m also super happy to do trades, my work for yours. Again, just reach out and we’ll see what we come up with.
